THE TOOTH FAIRY

DID YOU KNOW THAT?

The tooth fairy is a fantasy figure of early childhood. The folklore states that when children lose one of their baby teeth, they should place it underneath their pillow and the tooth fairy will visit while they sleep, replacing the lost tooth with a small payment.

The tradition of leaving a tooth under a pillow for the tooth fairy to collect is practised in various countries in the English-speaking world.

LOOKING AFTER TEETH

As soon as your children have several teeth, it’s a good idea to start encouraging them to have good dental hygiene habits.

Get your children to first watch you brush your teeth, then let them have a TOOTHBRUSH so that they can copy your actions. This needs to be done in a playful manner, as you want to encourage them to look after their teeth, which they should be able to do thoroughly on their own at about the age of 6 or 7.

As well as brushing their teeth, it’s also a good idea to limit the amount of sugary foods in their diet such as sweets, cakes, biscuits, chocolate and so forth.

First, take your TOOTHBRUSH. Next add a small amount of toothpaste…

now…. Brush!

This is the way we brush our teeth
brush our teeth
brush our teeth
This is the way we brush our teeth
We do it in the morning!

brushing up, and
brushing down
left and right and round and round..
A nice white smile will then be found!
We’ve brushed really well!

This is the way we brush our teeth
brush our teeth
brush our teeth
This is the way we brush our teeth
We do it in the evening!

brushing left, and
brushing right
Brushing till our teeth are bright!
Then we say [yawn] “good night!”
We’ve brushed really well!

This is the way we brush our teeth
brush our teeth
brush our teeth
This is the way we brush our teeth
We do it twice a day!
