Martin Luther King Jr the Hero of Equality
Martin Luther King Jr. was born on January 15, 1929, in Atlanta, Georgia. He became a very important person in the fight against treating people unfairly because of their skin colour.
Martin believed in being kind and fair to everyone, and he got his ideas from his Christian faith and a man named Mahatma Gandhi. Instead of using violence, Martin thought it was better to peacefully disobey unfair rules.
He was really good at giving speeches that made people feel inspired, especially his famous “I Have a Dream” speech in 1963. This speech encouraged many people to work together to make sure everyone is treated the same.
Martin Luther King Jr. was like a leader in a special group fighting for fairness. They did peaceful protests, marches, and boycotts to show that it’s not right to treat people differently because of their race.
Because of his hard work, important laws were passed in 1964 and 1965 to make sure everyone has the same rights, no matter their skin colour. These laws helped end unfair practices.

In 1983, the president made a special day called Martin Luther King Jr. Day to honor him. It’s a day to remember his important work and to think about how we can be kind to everyone around us.
Now, every year on the third Monday of January, we celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day. It’s not just a day off from school, but a day when we can help others and be kind, just like Martin wanted. Many communities organize activities like volunteering, projects, and learning about fairness and equality to honor him.
